If you were enchanted by the idea of a retro German roadster with a 500-horsepower V10 engine on tap, you’d better start saving. Because reports from Germany, home of the eminently desirable Veritas RS3, place the supercar’s price at a handsome €342,000.

You’d also better act fast if you want to get your hands on one, because Vermot AG, the engineering start-up responsible for the Veritas, will only make 30 examples, pretty much guaranteeing you won’t pull up next to another one at a traffic light. After those initial 30 are sold, they’ll build an additional 30 versions with a fixed roof, and they’re also said to be working on an ultra-exclusive sport-utility vehicle with an aircraft engine underneath the hood. Oh dear, this is going to be expensive.
